Rename scanner files meaningfully

Every scanner produces generic filenames like SCAN0001.pdf or img_20240315.pdf. These names are useless for search and filing. Filery Rename reads the scanned content and suggests filenames that reflect what's inside.

The scanner problem

Whether multifunction device, document scanner or scanner app: generated filenames are generic and interchangeable. After a few days, nobody knows what's in which file.

OCR as a foundation

If your scanner doesn't embed text, Filery's optional OCR function can be activated. This turns even a pure image PDF into a document with recognizable text.

Rename right after scanning

Set up a scan folder and run Filery regularly. New scans are immediately named meaningfully before a backlog builds up.

Process older scans too

If hundreds of scan files have already accumulated, Filery processes them in batch. Most important folders first, the rest step by step.

FAQ

Yes—Filery works with PDF files regardless of scanner brand. What matters is the quality of the scanned text.

With very poor quality, even OCR has its limits. Filery flags uncertain results so you can review them manually.

Currently you select the folder manually. Automatic monitoring is planned for future versions.
